Greenwood's work is predominantly concerned with redefining the
aesthetic nature of specific objects. This he does by removing or
shifting their functional characteristics without loosing their
intrinsic identity.
Through
his twenty eight years of using leather as a sculptural medium, the
notion of illusion and paradox has been a great source of inspiration
resulting in a series of recurrent themes. These themes are expressed in
objects that relate to areas such as human form, costume, architecture
and musical instruments. His passion for music prompted his inevitable
investigation into the accoustic properties of leather and has since
developed to form a collection of playable sculptures.
"The
additional dimension of sound creates an even wider range of
possibilities and in combination with established visual concepts will
undoubtedly be a strong influence in future directions of my work" |
